The knowledge and skills gained in Year 10 provide the foundations for student success in Years 11 and 12. The BEARS Team provides parents and students with relevant information and an understanding of the requirements for Years 11 and 12. Our Career Advisors help with –
- Career Interest Review assessment to identify individual interests and relevant career options with important and essential contribution from parents
- Selecting subjects for Years 10, 11 and 12 and HOW/WHEN subjects can be changed
- Prerequisite subjects for University degrees, College diplomas and apprenticeships
- How the Queensland OP system works
- Understanding Levels of Achievement and Rank Orders in determining an OPS or a Tertiary Rank
- How students can communicate better with teachers and family
- Time Management and how to study smarter using a Colour Coded Time Management Chart
- Strategies to improve oral and written English skills including essays and assignments
- Options after Year 12 – Uni, TAFE, College, apprenticeships, traineeships, employment, GAP year
- University, TAFE, Agricultural and Private College programs and likely employment options after graduation
- Budgeting, saving money, bank accounts and starting a share portfolio
- Preparing for part-time work – application, resume writing and job interview skills
- First-Aid Certificate, Defensive Driving and other practical courses that employers look for
- Licences – boat, car, forklift, pilot, scuba, motorcycle, truck
- Grooming, deportment and modelling course information for both males and females.
